Before I Was A Mom!

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much..
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .

May you always be overwhelmed by the Grace of God rather than by the cares of life

McKenzie is 6 Months Old Today!

Okay so I know it has been awhile but things here have been hectic to say the least! McKenzie had a cold that she just couldn't kick and it turned into bronchitis, so after a few Dr.'s visits we finally are on the road to recovery. So as for updates I don't even know where to begin.

David and I went with our friends Damon and Amanda to the Rodeo to see Pat Green! It was so fun! It was nice to have a night out without the kids. The Rodeo was great and the concert was fabulous! Man it is expensive though we decided that after we each had 3 beers, if we were at the bar in Huntsville we could have had about 60 beers! Crazy how expensive that place is! Anyway we had a blast!

Two weekends ago McKenzie went to work with me and she had a blast! I really think she liked flirting with all the college boys! Lord help us! So on the way home from work there was a big duck on the side of the road holding a sign that said Easter Pictures! So we stopped and went in to check it out. I didn't go home to get her Easter dress but she had pastels on so we got some pictures. McKenzie loved the duck! She pulled its hair and kissed it all over! I will post some pictures but they are not very clear because I am taking a picture of a picture! Sorry :-( I don't have a scanner.

This past weekend David had an Alumni event so it was just the girls! McKenzie and I had a slumber party but she was out by 8 pm so it was kind of lonely after that. On Saturday we went to the Golf Course for The Beckster and met all of daddy's old buddies. McKenzie once again got to flirt with lots of boys. We met my friend Shannon and her daughter Betsy at the golf course and while the boys played golf we had a girls day. First, we went to eat at the Farmhouse and then we went to see the All-Girl Cheerleaders, Orange Pride and Sammy the Mascot do a show off for Nationals (which is this week). THey did a great job!! McKenzie loved it! Loud music and lots of girls dancing but her favorite was Sammy the mascot! It was so cute, McKenzie kept reaching her hands out for him to pick her up! I guess I am going to have to invite Sammy to her 1st Birthday Party! So after this we went to visit a friend to introduce her to the two babies and then headed back to the golf course. We went in just in time for daddy to give McKenzie a bottle and see the awards! After this McKenzie was so tired, we went home, I feed her veggies and applesauce and then we took a bath. Bath time was interesting because I bathe McKenzie with me and David is usually there to take her when we are through but David wasn't there this time. So...I somehow got us both out of the bathtub just in time for the baby rub down and a bottle and it was lights out for McKenzie. I had some time to pick up the house and wash all the bottles and dishes and then it was lights out for me too! On Sunday funday, McKenzie and I went for a nice walk and visited with the neighbors. After David got home we all took a nap! When we woke up we went to Granny's to visit Cousin Dee! Cousin Dee was everywhere and McKenzie just laughed at her! It was a blast seeing the girls together. Next week Dee will turn 1, I cannot believe she will be 1! She is having a Ladybug Party on the 18th and I will make sure and take lots of pictures! I cannot believe that I forgot my camera at the office this weekend! There were so many photo ops and I missed it! Sorry :-(

So all in all things here are going well! McKenzie gets her shots next week and it is also The Sammy's here at SHSU! I promise to get better at my updates! Tonight David and I are going to opening day with the Astros and McKenzie is going to stay at Omas and play! I know she and Oma are going to have a blast! I promise to take some pictures tonight! Have a great week! Oh and how can I forget....Its McKenzie's 6 Month Birthday!!!!!!!!!
